Champak Jain, founder of Venus, and producer of Baazigar and Khiladi, passes away

Champak Jain, who produced films like Akshay Kumar- Katrina Kaif's De Dana Dana Dan, Shah Rukh Khan's Baazigar, has passed away at the age of 52. He was the co-founder and co-owner of Venus Records and Tapes and United Seven production house with his brothers - Ratan, Girish, Ganesh, Umed, Ramesh and Bhanwar Jain. Under the banner of his production house, Jain bankrolled movies like Khiladi, Hulchul, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon, Humraaz and others. Champak Jain passed away following a cardiac arrest. He breathed his last around 7 pm on Thursday.

When Mumbai Mirror got in touch with his brother Ratan, he informed them that 'it all happened very suddenly.' Champak Jain collapsed while they were at their Juhu office. Following the same, he was immediately rushed to the Criti Care Hospital in the vicinity, but it was too late. His late rites will take place today at 11 am at the Santacruz crematorium.

Shocked by the sudden demise of Jain, Abbas Burmawala (of director duo Abbas- Mustan) told the leading daily, "We have been friends since the time we first worked together on Khiladi. Champak ji was a nice, simple man. We had a great relation with him and the Jain family. In fact, we had just met Champak ji on Dhanteras. His sudden demise is shocking."

Sonu Sood also offered his condolences on Twitter. He wrote, ""Really sad to know about the sudden demise of Champak Jain ji. He was such a noble soul. Had such fond memories of him. My condolences to the entire Venus family, Rattan Jain ji, Ganesh Jain ji RIP Champak sir."
