Remembering Smita Patil: 7 priceless pictures of the iconic actress that will prove beauty is timeless
Smita Patil's untimely demise left an irreparable void in the film industry. The actress was married to Raj Babbar but only within two weeks of giving birth to son Prateik on December 13, 1986, she died due to childbirth complications. Needless to say, her absence still looms large. The late actress, who was one of the finest actors of Indian cinema, did more than 80 Hindi and Marathi films during her film career. In fact, 10 of her films were released posthumously. She had entered Bollywood with Shyam Benegal's Charandas Chor and left a mark unlike anyone else. Apart from films, she was known as a feminist too. Even her last performance as the feisty Sonbai in Mirch Masala was one of the greatest that she delivered.
Not just that, Smita Patil was also involved in the advancement of women's issues and gave her endorsement to films which sought to explore the role of women in a traditional Indian society. She even won the Padma Shri Award for all the right reasons. If that wasn't enough, the legendary star was one of her kind and extremely beautiful. And today on her 64th birth anniversary, here are a few unseen pictures that will prove exactly that...
She had also received National Awards for films like Bhumika and Chakra. Namak Halaal, Chakra, Bazaar, Arth and Mandi are some of her other iconic films. Hopefully, she is at peace, wherever she is.
