Thalapathy Vijay's Bigil SHATTERS several biggies to debut at 5th position at the worldwide box office

And as expected, Thalapthy Vijay's Bigil has enjoyed a sensational opening weekend at the ticket windows. The sports drama raked in around Rs 147 crore in its first three days and debuted at the fifth position at the worldwide box office. It has beaten several Hollywood and Bollywood biggies including Housefull 4 to achieve this milestone. Bigil is now heading to shatter the record of Tamil blockbusters like Viswasam, Nerkonda Paarvai and Petta at the domestic market.

Vijay is known as Thalapathy to Tamil fans and the film continues his winning streak at the box-office. Incidentally, this is his third release with Atlee after Theri and Mersal. With both earlier films emerging blockbusters, Vijay fans made sure that Bigil will repeat a similar success story. Bigil is a sports action film that has Vijay in dual roles as father and son. As the father, he plays a local don and as the son, he is the coach of a women's football team. The actor underwent training for the coach's character.

It has garnered positive reviews across the country, our critic Russel D'Silva gave the film three-and-a-half stars and wrote, "Bigil is a rip-roaring masala entertainer that smartly balances its mass elements with an emotional story, pulsating sports drama, and hard-hitting gangster dynamics.
