Arshad Warsi on Munna Bhai 3: To be honest, I have given up

Actor Arshad Warsi is soon going to be seen in Anees Bazmee's Pagalpanti. However, the question of him and the third part of Munna Bhai returning on the silver screen is something that is not going to leave. Recently in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, the actor spoke how he has lost hope with regards to the return of the franchise. In the interview, Arshad said, "Raju is working on the second half of the script. To be honest, I have given up, but Raju is not giving up, Vinod (Vidhu Vinod Chopra, producer) has not given up, Abhijat (Joshi, writer) has not given up. Whenever they are ready, Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) and I will be ready, too."

Well, talks about the third part of the movie has been going on for some time now. The first installment of the franchise, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.released in 2003 and saw Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi playing the iconic characters Munna Bhai and Circuit respectively. It's sequel Lage Raho Munna Bhai released in 2006 and went on to become a bigger critical and commercial success. In 2008, it was announced that Rajkumar Hirani will return to direct the third part of the movie, titled Munna Bhai Chale America. However with Dutt's imprisonment, the movie was shelved. 10 years later, in 2018, Hirani confirmed that he will kickstart the third part after his 2018's Sanju releases. However, we have not got any update so far on the project.

Coming back to Arshad Warsi, the actor said he always wanted to work with Anees Bazmee. "I've always wanted to work with him, but I was hesitant because he seemed like a serious director to me, someone who might slap me if I tried to improvise. Fortunately, he was more than happy when I managed to improve a scene here or there while working on this film. After Raju (MunnaBhai series director Rajkumar Hirani), Anees bhai is the first director who gave me the freedom to act," he said in the interview.
