A couple of days ago, Ranveer Singh had shared a picture of himself pulling the Natraj shot of Kapil Sharma. Ranveer Singh will step into Kapil Dev's shoes for Kabir Khan's directorial venture '83. The film narrates the events surrounding the Indian cricketing team's historic win at the Lords Stadium in the 1983 World Cup. While the resemblance between Ranveer and Kapil is uncanny, the trollers gave it a hilarious spin that will leave you rolling on the floor, laughing. Talking about the film, '83 also stars Deepika Padukone. She will step into the shoes of Romi Dev for the sports drama. '83 marks the first collaboration between Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, post their wedding last year. Kabir Khan, who has helmed the film, spoke about the film in an interview with Mumbai Mirror. "Which Indian boy doesn't know cricket?" he asks, adding, "I've always been into sports and played cricket a lot in school and college, but never at a higher level. In the course of this film, all of us became slightly better because we had world-class coaches working with us, from Kapil Dev himself to Balwinder Sandhu. Cricket was being played on camera and off it too." he told the daily.

He was all praise for his frontrunner, Ranveer Singh. In the same interview, Kabir told the daily, "Ranveer is one of those gifted people who can turn into any character. If you see his last few roles, it's difficult to believe that they are all played by one person. He has spent a lot of time with Kapil Dev in Delhi and has beautifully picked up his persona. More than the make-up, his expressions have done the work." Apart from Ranveer-Deepika, the film also stars Chirag Patil, Sahil Khatter, Adinath Kothare, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu and others in pivotal roles. 83 is set to hit the screens on April 10, 2020.
