The Immortal Ashwatthama: 'Vicky Kaushal's look will come as a complete surprise to all,' promises director Aditya Dhar

Vicky Kaushal reunites with filmmaker AdityaDhar for The Immortal Ashwatthama and their second outing is going to bigger and better. Unlike Uri: The Surgical Strike, their second project is an action-based superhero film set in modern times. For the unversed, Ashwatthama is one of the most powerful and mysterious characters of Mahabharata. He was born to Dronacharya and Kripi as an answer to the former's prayers for a son as valiant as Shiva. Coming back to Aditya and Vicky's film, it is all set to go on floors by mid-2020.

Aditya Dhar had narrated The Immortal Ashwatthama to Vicky and producer Ronnie Screwvala, a day before Uri: The Surgical Strike hit the cinemas. And within five days of his narration, the filmmaker began working on the script. Revealing what appealed him to make a film on Ashwatthana, he told Mumbai Mirror, "Ashwatthama is one of the most powerful and mysterious characters from the Mahabharata. Being Drona's son, he is a brilliant warrior but also arrogant and egoistic because he is immortal. In comparison to other warriors like Arjuna and Karna, not much is written about him in various versions of the Mahabharata."

Moving onto Vicky Kaushal's look for his directorial, Aditya stated that the actor will be required put on a lot of weight and at the same time, he will have to shed a few kilos while filming. "Like Uri, Vicky has to gain an incredible amount of weight, but this time, he will also have to lose it all during the course of the filming. His look will come as a complete surprise," promised Dhar.

The Immortal Ashwatthama will be shot across Greenland, Tokyo, New Zealand and Namibia. As far as post-production is concerned, it will be solely done in the United States. Told, ya!
