2019 Recap: 11 times Bollywood made us CRINGE with the baffling song remakes

Where do we start? Okay, recreating tracks by keeping the essence the same is how one would want songs to be made. But this remake fever that has taken over Bollywood is just in a bad taste. Honestly, the oldies are much more entertaining than the ones which have been created of late in the name of remixing/revamping songs. Since the year is coming to an end (can you believe it?), we are here with a recap of the worst recreational tracks of 2019. Trust us, there were many but we have jotted down 11 songs, which we found to be downright atrocious. Now, we don't mean that one shouldn't create remixes, but the old-world charm should not be diminished as the songs are efforts of some great musicians. 2019 has been the year of remixes and more remixes and more remixes.

So, without further ado, here's the list of remixes that completely mutilated the original songs:

Mungda - Total Dhamaal

Sonakshi Sinha wanted an item number? We get it. You wanted to recreate a hit item number we get it. But the way Helen did it, Sonakshi was nowhere close. When we heard that Mungda was being recreated, we cringed at first, as another hit item number would be destroyed just for the sake of promotional activity. Sonakshi looks good, but the beats don't make you groove to her moves because the old one's still stuck in your mind.

Bhumro - Notebook

For starters the lyrics. We do understand you want to bring modern slang in the song, but this is just difficult to understand and pronounce as well it's a dud. The original Bhumro theme still reverberates in our ears and it's one of the most cherished tracks of the 2000s'. Honestly, we tried with the remix, but it couldn't match up.

Shehar Ki Ladki - Khandaani Shafakhana

To be brutally honest, nowadays, the visuals and lyrics hardly make a mark. It's all about glamourising, adding a hot babe to the song, a rapper, some funky chunk of music and boom ! You have a new song. We don't know what efforts the makers put into it and we are no one to judge, but reality check: The sounds just don't appeal to us.

Odhani - Made In China

A famous garba number was turned into an item number. So, what are we supposed to do? Do an item dance on Falguni Pathak's songs? This totally ruined the Garba mood. Told you, it's all about adding glamour.

Naah Goriye - Bala

Harrdy, why? The original Naah Goriye was a chartbuster, and if were to be turned into a duet, it should've had some girl vs boys kind of feel to it. But nope, they simply reduced the lady to a glam doll with cheesy lyrics. Well, yeah Naah Goriye!

Ek Toh Kum Zindagani

Nora Fatehi is back with another recreational number. She is no doubt the queen of such tracks and while we love her sizzling hot moves on the screen, some of the numbers turn out to be such duds that we cringe all the way. The only reason why these songs get views is Nora. Honestly, it's a waste of Nora's talent the way they have just thrown this number into the film.

Tum Par Hum Hai Atke - Pagalpanti

What did we see? What was that choreography? And the lyrics? Is that how you woo a girl now? And what's with the Fevicol reference? Ileana and John's cute expressions did save the day, but not by that much.

Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare - Pati Patni Aur Woh

'Baby meri haaye haaye goli maare, ankhiyon se haaye haaye goli maare.' You are done right here. Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday may have just about pulled it off with their energy had the song been even half better.

Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa Reloaded - The Body

It was cringy back then, but it was a hit for God's sake. 'Husn Tera Jaadu Hai, Ban Gaya Dil Sadhu Hai,' like bro, if that's the case, how can you sing, 'Jhalak dikhlaa jaa?' Emraan Hashmi, you got a big hit with this one. Why would you ruin your own song?

Chamma Chamma - Fraud Saiyyan

Urmila Matondkar and the makers of the original number must have been having a good laugh when this one had released, wouldn't they? We cringed and cried at each beat, to be honest. Skin show at par, too. Did they even see the original one?

So Gaya Yeh Jahan - Bypass Road

Neil Nitin Mukesh's dad made the original one. If he could have retained the original track by just change the vocals, it could have worked, but nope. Recreation ka Zamana hai bhai, aise kaise? Voila, you have another ruined classic to be thrown out of your playlist.

Note: If you cannot replace it, it's no good.
