2019 Recap: Bigg Boss 13, Ekta Kapoor, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai – Here are the TV newsmakers of the year

2019 is about to end and it's time to look back at the big stories that took place this year from the television industry. There were a lot of interesting stories, but if you guys missed any, we are here to the rescue. We are here to assist you by bringing back those big stories of this year. Bigg Boss 13, Ekta Kapoor, Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2, here are the TV newsmakers of 2019.

Bigg Boss 13

 

Bigg Boss 13 began with a bang on 29th September but has been in the news even before that. The new concept of having two grand finales caught the attention of fans. This season had a different concept and was grabbing eyeballs for it. The show began with 14 contestants. Soon the first finale took place and the wildcards made their entry in the house. This season also had the most number of wild card entries. The show has been in the news consistently. This season also became the most successful season of all the previous seasons and has got an extension of five weeks.

Ekta Kapoor

 

Ekta Kapoor turned mother to a cute baby boy through surrogacy this year in January. She named a little prince as Ravie Kapoor. But the czarina of television has not revealed Ravie's face yet.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai

 

 

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai completed 3000 episodes and became the first Hindi GEC show to touch this landmark. The show has been the longest-running on television and also had been at the top of the TRP charts for a few weeks. The team had grand celebrations on the sets of the show for the completion of 3000 episodes. Not just one, but they had a lot of parties and hawans on sets. Recently, even Mohsin Khan and Shivangi Joshi completed 1000 episodes and so did Kartik and Naira. They also had a celebration for this achievement.

 

Indian Idol 11

 

Indian Idol 11 has been in the news for the Anu Malik controversy. Himesh Reshammiya has replaced composer Anu Malik as the judge after the latter withdrew his name from the show in the face of Me Too allegations against him. Sona Mohapatra, Neha Bhasin and Shweta Pandit had accused him of sexual misconduct in the past.

Naagin 4

 

Ekta Kapoor announced the new season of Naagin and fans were excited about it even before it begin. There was a huge suspense about the cast of this season. Ekta Kapoor finally introduced Nia Sharma and Jasmin Bhasin as the leads this season. The show began on December 14 and has received a lot of positive responses already.

Beyhadh 2

 

Jennifer Winget's Beyhadh came back with its second season this year. The news of the show's comeback created a lot of buzz and fans were excited to see Jennifer Winget again as Maya Mehrotra. Shivin Narang and Ashish Chowdhry are the male leads of the show and the show is doing quite well. Fans are loving the very dangerous Maya Mehrotra.

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein

 

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein is one of the longest-running shows on television. The cute love story of Raman and Ishita was loved by fans. Ekta Kapoor's show finally bid adieu this year and was replaced by its spin-off show, Ye Hai Chahatein. Yeh Hai Mohabbatein cast and Ekta Kapoor posted emotional messages for the show on social media.

Jamai 2.0

 

Nia Sharma and Ravi Dubey were back with their show Jamai Raja on a digital platform. Jamai 2.0 began with a bang and has been quite successful. It had also received a 10/10 rating on IMDb. The chemistry between Nia and Ravi was loved by the audience.

Hina Khan

 

Hina Khan, who is known for her work in shows like Kasautii Zindagi Kay 2 and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, made her debut on the Cannes 2019 red carpet this year. She was there for the poster launch of her film, Lines. She had been the talk of the town since then. While everyone went gaga over her looks, the editor of a leading film mag made a rather snide remark questioning Hina Khan's presence at the film fest. The whole TV industry united to slam his rather snobbish and elitist remarks. The actress was also personally invited to the Chopard Party by Priyanka Chopra.

Disha Vakani

 

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most loved shows on television. The comedy series has been going on for a very long time now and one still does not mind watching the episodes repeatedly. Daya and Jethalal are the most loved comedy characters on the show. However, Daya ben aka Disha Vakani has been away as she was on a maternity break and never returned. Fans are still waiting for her return in show. There had been news that she would return back to the show but it was her husband Mayur Pandya who had some issues with her working hours. The makers had given the viewers hope about her return but it was just for one episode where she was seen speaking to Jethalal on a video call.
