2019 Recap: From Akshay Kumar to Hrithik Roshan, meet the stars who passed with flying colours this year

Today is the last day of 2019 and we should thank Bollywood for giving us some mind-blowing films with strong content and memorable performances. Through these movies, we once again witnessed stars like Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan showing their star power, while Shahid Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput surprised us with their relevant and entertaining content. So. let's check out the report cards of our favourite Bollywood actors and see how their films performed at the box office.

Akshay Kumar (1 Blockbuster and 3 Super-hits)

The Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, owned this year by delivering three super-hits and 1 blockbuster in the form of Kesari, Housefull 4, Good Newwz and Mission Mangal. The cumulative business of these films is more than Rs 600 crore and counting as Good Newwz is still dominating at the ticket windows.

Hrithik Roshan (1 Blockbuster and 1 Super-hit)

The Greek God of Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan made a comeback on the silver screen after more than two years with War and Super 30. While he impressed with his acting skills in Super 30, HR justified the title of Greek God with his super hot looks in War, which is the highest-grossing film of the year with a collection of more than Rs 315 crore.

Salman Khan (1 Hit and 1 Above Average)

Salman Khan, who is known as the undisputed champion of box office, didn't have the best of the year, as both of his films didn't perform upto the mark at the ticket windows. While Bharat crossed the Rs 200 crore mark and attended the HIT status, Dabangg 3 got affected by CAA protests and is expected to end its theatrical run around Rs 150 crore, thus making it an above-average affair at the ticket windows.

Ranveer Singh (1 Super-hit)

Ranveer Singh, who is known as the live-wire of Bollywood has done only one film this year in the form of Gully Boy, which impressed everyone. The film collected over Rs 140 crore and RS is garnering accolades and awards for his character of an underdog rapper.

Ayushmann Khurrana (2 Super-hits and 1 Hit)

Like 2018, Ayushmann Khurrana enjoyed a superb 2019 as he delivered three box office successes with Article 15, Badhaai Ho and Bala. With these films, once again the talented star showed his versatility and made sure even a niche film like Article 15 can become a hit with his presence.

Shahid Kapoor (1 Blockbuster)

Shahid Kapoor has always impressed us with his acting mettle in films like Haider, Kaminey and Jab We Met but with Kabir Singh, he proved that he has the potential to bring audience to cinema halls in large numbers. Despite being an 'A' rated film, the love story drama raked in over Rs 275 crore and became one of the most profitable films of the year.

Vicky Kaushal (1 Blockbuster)

With Uri: The Surgical Strike, Vicky Kaushal's Josh was top of the sky and apart from delivering this surprise money-spinner, he also won the National Award of Best Actor for this film.

Sushant Singh Rajput (1 Blockbuster, 1 flop)

After delivering a disaster in the form of Sonchiriya, Sushant Singh Rajput made a comeback with a bang with Chhichhore, which crossed the Rs 150 crore mark at the box office. The film, which was made on a reasonable small budget emerged as one of the most profitable films of the year.

In 2020, we have biggies waiting with their ventures at the box office. While Ranveer has '83, Takht and Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Akshay has booked all festive dates with Bachchan Pandey, Prithviraj, Laxmmi Bomb and Sooryavanshi. So, by looking at this list we can say 2020 will be a grander year.
