Filmy Friday: Rs 3800 crore and counting! Bollywood earned this insane amount in 11 months of 2019, courtesy War, Kabir Singh, Uri and other biggies

We are in the last month of 2019 and today, 1st releases of December have arrived at the box office in the form of Arjun Kapoor's Panipat and Kartik Aaryan's Pati Patni Aur Woh. While we are expecting to end this year with a bang, we can't deny that from January to November, Bollywood has delivered multiple blockbusters, superhits and hits and has collected over Rs 3800 crore in these 11 months.

Well, the maximum credit for that should go to big fishes or money-spinners like War, Kabir Singh, Uri: The Surgical Strike, Bharat, Housefull 4 and Mission Mangal. If you calculate, the cumulative business of these six films comes to around Rs 1570 crore, which means these blockbusters have contributed over 40 per cent in the collections of 2019.

After them, super-hits and surprise hits like Chhichhore, Saaho, Kesari, Total Dhamaal, Gully Boy, Super 30, Dream Girl, Bala and others made their big contribution to the business. If you analyze, 2019 has also turned out to be a better year for Bollywood compared to 2018 as the content-driven small films like The Tashkent Files, Article 15 have managed to garner footfalls in the cinema halls.

Talking about December, we are at least expecting Rs 400 crore from this month as we have two big films, which are, Salman Khan's Dabangg 3 and Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan's Good Newwz. Apart from these two films, Mardaani 2, The Body, Panipat and Pati Patni Aur Woh also have the potential to add great business to the box office.

Last but not least, we have not included this amount (around Rs 1120 crore) but once again, we have observed that Hollywood films have given tough time to Hindi films as films like Avengers: Endgame, The Jungle Book, Spiderman: Far From Home, Captain Marvel, Aladdin and Joker have turned out to be huge success in the Indian markets.
