Rajinikanth's Darbar to take on Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji and Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak at the box office

Today, the trailer of Rajinikanth's highly-anticipated Darbar will be launched in Mumbai along with the cast and crew of the film. While the fans of Thalaivar can't boast their excitement to watch their favourite megastar in his swagger avatar, the makers have revealed the release date, which is January 9, 2020. That means, the Hindi version of the masala entertainer will clash with Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak as both the films are hitting the screens on January 10, 2020. So, once again, will see a triple clash alert at the ticket windows.

Director of Darbar, AR Murugadoss took to his social media account to announce that Darbar trailer will be out on December 16. He had posted, 'Hello Friends, Get ready for an action packed Trailer!!! Happy to announce that we will be launching the Trailer of DARBAR on 16th, 6:30 PM. Talking about Darbar, the multilingual film, which will release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, will see Rajinikanth as an IPS officer. The actor has played the character of a cop earlier in films like Hum, Geraftaar, Moondru Mugam and Pandiyan. The film also stars Nayanthara, Dalip Tahil, Chemban Vinod and Prateik Babbar in key roles. It is directed by AR Murugadoss, the man behind Ghajini, Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, Akira, Sarkar (Tamil) and many more. After Chandramukhi and Kuselan, this is the third time Nayanthara will be teaming up with the 68-year-old star. Darbar is bankrolled by Lyca Productions, who previously produced Rajinikanth's last blockbuster 2.0. Ace lensman Santosh Sivan has cranked the camera for Darbar, while Anirudh Ravichander has composed the album. The editing of the film is done by Sreekar Prasad.
