Bhumi Pednekar returns to Shubh Mangal Saavdhan's sequel with Ayushmann Khurrana
And it's finally happening. Bhumi Pednekar is returning to the sequel of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. According to a report in Mirror, Bhumi is set to feature in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. The movie revolves around a same-sex couple. Confirming the news with the daily the film's producer Aanand L Rai said, "Bhumi is a part of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan family and we couldn't imagine making Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan without her. She has a special appearance in the narrative and we are extremely happy to have her on board."
A source close to the development informed the daily that Bhumi's part had been in the script right from the beginning. Earlier while speaking to Mirror Bhumi Pednekar had hinted that after working with Aanand L Rai on
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, she knew that she would reunite with the filmmaker for another film. "Our
sensibilities match and I look up to him. Maybe they can make a sequel to Shubh Mangal... so Ayushmann and I
can complete a hattrick," she had said back then.
Coming to Ayushmann and Bhumi this will be their fourth film together in five years. The two were paired for the first time in the 2015 romcom, Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Next they were seen in films like Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Bala in 2019. Film's producer Bhushan Kumar also commented, "Bhumi's association adds value to the storyline. She is an amazing actor and I am glad she is a part of our film."
Written and directed by Hitesh Kewalya, the sequel will also see talented actors Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao playing parents to Ayushmann. Reportedly Bhumi shot for her part over a two-day schedule in Varanasi in November.
In 2020, Bhumi will be seen in three films Durgavati, Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship and Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare. The actress is also expected to kickstart the shoot of Karan Johar's multi-starrer period-drama Takht this year.
