Filmy Friday: Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Koi... Mil Gaya, Dhoom 2 and War justifies the box office mettle of birthday boy Hrithik Roshan – here's how

The greek god of Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan is celebrating his 46th birthday today. The handsome enjoyed a phenomenal 2019, with both of his films Super 30 and War turning out to be money-spinners at the ticket windows. HR enjoys a huge fanbase across the globe and is one of the rare actors, who is blessed with great looks and superb acting skills. He has shown his versatility in films like Jodhaa Akbar, Guzaarish, Mission Kashmir and many more. But with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000), Koi... Mil Gaya (2003), Dhoom 2 (2006) and War (2019) the actor showcased his box office power as these movies were the highest-grossing films of the year in which they were released.

In fact, in 2006, Krrish was the third-highest grosser of the year behind Dhoom 2 and Lage Raho Munnabhai, while Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.. was the second-highest grosser of 2001 behind Sunny Deol's cross border drama Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Undoubtedly, HR has witnessed many ups and downs in his acting career but cannot deny the fact that he is one of the rare stars, on whom the producers blindly invest big bucks as his fanbase guarantees the return of investment and latest example of that is War, which has grossed over Rs 450 crore at the global box office.

While the star has not announced any of his next projects, he has confirmed that Krrish 4 is in the working stage. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, he said, "The film is underway but it's best that I speak at the right time; once I begin work on the film." Revealing the secret to the success of this franchise, he added, "It wasn't a pretentious superhero film; the logics were right. The genesis of superhero films in India requires a prequel and then to be taken forward into the template. In my head, Krrish became a superhero in Krrish 3. Koi Mil Gaya was a backstory with Rohit; Krrish was a personal story though, by the end, you feel that the character could be a superhero but in Krrish 3, he became one. The three films have established a solid foundation for the franchise. Any such series needs that because we are building the character from scratch."

Well, we hope Hrithik Roshan announces his next project today as it will be a birthday treat for his fans. What are your thoughts? Tweet to us @bollywood_life.
