Filmy Friday: With Chhapaak, '83 and Mahabharat, Deepika Padukone is set to rule the box office in 2020-21
The gorgeous superstar of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone is set to celebrate her 34th birthday this Sunday. The beautiful actress, who was missing from the silver screen for almost two years, is set to make a roaring comeback and she has four films in the pipeline, the first one being Chhapaak, which is releasing on next Friday. Chhapaak - 10th January
The film is loosely based on the life of an acid attack survivor, Laxmi Aggarwal. Deepika has turned producer with this film and is currently busy in promoting it. Chhapaak is directed by Raazi and Talvar helmer Meghna Gulzar and also features Vikrant Massey in a key role. It is clashing with Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior at the box office.
'83 - 10th April
The actress will be seen playing Ranveer's on-screen wife in '83. While RS is essaying the role of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, DP plays the role of Romi Dev. Presented by Reliance Entertainment, the film is inspired by Team India's first World Cup win. It is produced by Madhu Mantena, Sajid Nadiadwala, Vishnu Induri and Kabir Khan.
Untitled film of Shakun Batra - February 12, 2021
This dark romantic film of Deepika Padukone will be directed by Kapoor & Sons helmer Shakun Batra and co-produced by Karan Johar. The yet-untitled venture will also star Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday in key roles. Shakun, who has previously directed Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012) and Kapoor & Sons (2016), will also produce the movie along with Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta.
Mahabharat - Diwali 2021
Deepika will play the character of Draupadi in the upcoming Bollywood magnum opus Mahabharat. The actress will also co-produce the high-budget mythological drama with Madhu Mantena and it will be made in multiple parts. The first part is set to hit the screens in Diwali 2021.
