Janhvi Kapoor steps into Kiara Advani's shoes to romance Varun Dhawan in Shashank Khaitan's Mr Lele

The speculations have been rife for a while now, however, one can finally put a confirmation to the flying reports. Kiara Advani is no longer a part of Shashank Khaitan's upcoming directorial Mr Lele. The film which stars Varun Dhawan and Bhumi Pednekar in the leads has seen a major casting change. With Kiara walking out of the film, speculations were rife that Janhvi Kapoor is stepping into the film. And today as per a report in Mirror, Janhvi Kapoor, who wrapped up the second schedule of Dostana 2 last week, is indeed gearing up for the film. This also means that the actress will be reuniting with Shashank Khaitan, who directed her debut film Dhadak.

This surely means a casting coup with Janvhi playing the protagonist alongside Varun and Bhumi. A source told the daily, "The makers were keen to get Janhvi on board as she and Varun haven't worked together before. The team had a narration for her last week and she instantly agreed. The film is currently in preproduction stage." Mr Lele is a comic-thriller which will be in the commercial space. The source further added, "The dialogue draft for the film is currently in the works and it is expected to go on the floors in the first week of March." Shashank is expected to go on a recce in the city later this month as he plans to shoot at real locations when the film goes on floors in March.

Earlier while talking about Janvhi Kapoor, during the promotions of Dhadak, Shashank had mentioned how fond he is of her. "I think me talking about Janhvi will be like a parent talking about their daughter. It's like saying 'she is the best daughter in the whole world'," Shashank had said. He further added, "I have had the biggest pleasure of my life working with Janhvi. Knowing her and her family. All I can say is, I am really proud of both of them and I couldn't have asked for more."
