Movies this week: Jawaani Jaaneman, Happy Hardy And Heer, Gul Makai

Last week's releases Street Dancer 3D and Panga managed to impress the audiences. Panga opened to better reviews than Street Dancer 3D. Now this week, all eyes are on three releases Jawaani Jaaneman, Happy Hardy And Heer, Gul Makai. Jawaani Jaaneman seems to be the most appealing out of the three. Anyway, without further ado, here's a look at them in detail.

Jawaani Jaaneman

Director: Nitin Kakkar

Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Alaya Furniturewala

Synopsis: A carefree, middle-aged man who spends most of his time at parties with beautiful women, suddenly finds himself the father of a young girl. She introduces him to her `hippie` mother, and just when he thinks things can`t get worse his daughter delivers yet another shock - she`s pregnant! Happy Hardy And Heer

Director: Raka

Cast: Himesh Reshammiya, Sonia Mann

Synopsis: Happy and Heer grow up as best friends, with Happy falling for Heer over the years. When she moves to London, Happy goes with her on the pretext of getting a job. He hopes that she will fall for him too but she soon meets Hardy, who was born and brought up in the UK. Hardy is a self-made entrepreneur while Happy is light-hearted and carefree. Gul Makai

Director: Amjad Khan

Cast: Reem Shaikh, Atul Kulkarni, Divya Dutta, Om Puri, Arif Zakaria

Synopsis: The movie accounts the courageous journey of the family of Ziauddin Yousafzai, when Swat Valley was seized by Taliban gunmen in 2009 and Sharia law was imposed upon its people. Ziauddin Yousafzai`s daughter, Malala Yousafzai, chose to speak against the world`s most dangerous terrorist organisation via her blogs on the BBC Urdu website under the pseudonym Gul Makai, against the oppression faced by them in the Swat Valley.

Malala spoke out for the rights of girls, especially the right to receive a complete education, her activism gaining worldwide recognition and support. Even though her father was a more active voice against the Taliban, they chose Malala to mark their opposition to girl`s education. But the Taliban failed and Malala Yousafzai survived. Today the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winner has become the voice and force for education for all women across the world.
