Movies This Week: Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Chhapaak, Darbar

2020 began with three releases Bhangra Paa Le, Sab Kushal Mangal and Shimla Mirchi. All three films did not have big names and hence also failed at the box office. This week, we have two big releases having big names. It will be a clash between Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak on January 10. So, let's check them out...

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior

Director: Om Raut

Cast: Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Sharad Kelkar, Neha Sharma, Luke Kenny

Synopsis: Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is a period drama and is based on the life of Tanhaji Malusare, a 17th-century Maharashtrian Marathi military leader. Tanhaji's acts of valor and bravery continued to inspire soldiers long after his death in battle. He was endowed with a body of steel, courage of a lion with an agile mind and Chattrapati Shivaji's closest aide and trusted lieutenant. Ready to lay down his life for his King and country, this Braveheart went to war, armed with a few Maratha soldiers to get back the Kondana Fort, against the Mughal army headed by Udaybhan. Mughal's had the muscle power, but Tanhaji had sharp acumen. Unfortunately, Marathas won Kondhana Fort, but lost their Lion.

Chhapaak

Director: Meghna Gulzar

Cast: Deepika Padukone, Vikrant Massey

Synopsis: Chhapaak is the story of Malti who is an acid attack survivor. From the investigation of the attack to the court proceedings, the medical treatment to the emotional healing. Chhapaak is the story of the unquashable human spirit.

Darbar

Director: A.R. Murugadoss

Cast: Rajinikanth, Suniel Shetty, Nayanthara

Synopsis: Darbar is a story of a police officer on a chase to hunt down a dreaded gangster for fulfilling his own secret agenda. This is a must-watch one as Rajinikanth will be back on-screen and also Suniel Shetty will be seen in this thriller. The film releases on January 9, 2020.
