'Shabana Azmi is talking normally and recognising people,' Boney Kapoor confirms the veteran actress is speedily recovering

In an unfortunate turn of events, veteran actress Shabana Azmi met with an accident on Saturday on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. As per news reports, the car in which Shabanaji was travelling rammed headlong at high speed into a truck while on the way to Pune, near Khalapur, over 60 km from Mumbai. The actress was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment and was later shifted to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. Shabana Azmi suffered severe injuries, however, she is recovering well now. Several Bollywood celebrities paid a visit to her. Apart from her family members, actors like Tabu, Anil Kapoor, Sunita Kapoor, Shibani Dandekar, Alia Bhatt with mother Soni Razdan, Boney Kapoor, Satish Kaushik and many others visited her.

Boney Kapoor, who also reached the hospital to know about Shabana Azmi's health, has confirmed that she is recovering well."According to doctors, there is nothing alarming. She's sedated as there is some pain but everything is fine. Except for Javed saab, Baba (Azmi, the actress's brother) and Tanvi (Azmi, sister-in-law) nobody is allowed into the ICU," he told Mumbai Mirror.

By God's grace, Shabana Azmi is able to recognize people around her and that's a sign for her health getting better. "Shabanaji is coherent, talking normally, recognising people. For now, she is under observation and the doctors are making sure there is no internal injury and that potential dangers are ruled out. She is a fighter and will come out of it," Boney further informed the leading daily.

According to reports, it will take almost a month for Shabana Azmi to completely recover. Her husband, Javed Akhtar, who was travelling in another car, had earlier informed Bollywood Hungama, "Don't worry. She is in the ICU but all the scan reports are positive. It seems there's no serious harm done." All we can do is hope for the best and pray for the actress to recover soon.
