Thala Ajith's last year Pongal release Viswasam, which released alongside Rajinikanth's Petta was an industry blockbuster. The family entertainer set new benchmarks at the ticket windows and now has created an all-time record on the small screen as well. With around 1 crore 82 lakhs impressions, Viswasam has grabbed the first spot in the list of all-time top 5 Tamil Premieres. It has beaten Thalapathy Vijay's Bigil and Sarkar, Sivakarthikeyan's Seema Raja and Vijay Antony's Pichaikkaran to achieve this milestone.

Talking about Viswasam, it marked the fourth collaboration between the director Siva and Ajith after Vedhalam, Veeram and Vivegam. It also features Vivek, Thambi Ramaiah, Yogi Babu, Bose Venkat and Kovai Sarala in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, Thala Ajith is currently shooting for Valimai, which is directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor. It marks the second collaboration of the trio after Nekonda Paarvai, which was the official remake of Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer Pink. A few days ago, the new look of Thala Ajith went viral, where he donned a handlebar moustache and grey hair. All his fans assumed that this is his look for Valimai. The title means strength and by looking at his fandoms, we must say, Thala Ajith is Valimai indeed! In an interview, Boney Kapoor had earlier told DNA, "I got to know him closely during the shoot of our Tamil film Nerkonda Paarvai. I was pleasantly surprised to know about his passion for racing and other sports. It was only natural that our next project together is a thriller that uses his passion for speed. I would love to have him in a Hindi film with an action backdrop." As per the Mid-day report, the film is an action thriller, with the backdrop of racing. Thala Ajith will portray the character of a racer in this mega-budget film, which will be shot in South Africa, Budapest and Middle-East. It is set to hit the screens in Diwali 2020.
