BL Predicts: Taapsee Pannu's Thappad to open with THESE numbers on its first day

February has not been one of the best months for Bollywood as only Aditya Roy Kapur and Disha Patani's Malang emerged a clean hit at the box office. Taapsee Pannu's Thappad, which made a decent noise with its trailer is the last release of this month and we hope that it brings joy to all Bollywood lovers. Just like Mulk and Article 15, Thappad also promises to be a hard-hitting drama from filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and looking at the genre, we are expecting the multiplex audience to come for this film in the cinema halls just like the earlier two films.

Analysing the buzz, we are predicting Thappad to open in the range between Rs 2.50 crore to Rs 3.50 crore on its first day at the box office. The film will be totally dependent on the word-of-mouth among the audience and we might see a slight jump or decline based on audience's verdict.

Taapsee recently said that playing the protagonist Amrita in Thappad was a huge challenge for her. "The character Amrita was suffocating for me in the end and I took it as a challenge. After 15 days of shooting, I started feeling claustrophobic. It was tough for me to get out of my firebrand image and mindspace and get into the skin of this character," she said.

She describes Amrita as a "good-hearted, loving and homely girl", who finally decides to walk out of a relationship that she invested all her emotions in. "She took all the typical nonsense of 'girls should compromise', 'little physical violence is part of love', 'and girl should do everything to save the marriage'. As Taapsee, I cannot take such nonsense at all. So, emotionally I was feeling claustrophobic," she shared.

The film also features Pavail Gulati, Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah, Tanvi Azmi, Kumud Mishra and Manav Kaul in key roles. So, are you planning to watch Thappad? Tweet and let us know @bollywood_life.
