Filmy Friday: Box office roundup: With just one hit and no Rs 100 crore club film, Bollywood continues its dry spell in February

Bollywood has struggled and not got a good start in 2020 at the box office. While January got saved because of the blockbuster success of Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan and Kajol starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, February turned out to be one of the most disappointing months for the Hindi film industry as many highly-anticipated faced rejection from the audience and box office. As a result, we just got one clean hit in the month of February.

Starting with the first of the month Malang, the romantic thriller featuring Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor and Kunal Kemmu in key roles, earned around Rs 60 crore at the box office and is the only clean hit of this month, in fact, the second success of the year after Tanhaji. The film gave a sigh of relief to lead actor Aditya Roy Kapur as his previous films like Fitoor, Daawat-E-Ishq, OK Jaanu and Kalank failed to create any magic at the box office.

On Valentine's Day, we saw the arrival of Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan starrer Love Aaj Kal, which was one of the much-awaited films of the year. While the romantic drama took a good opening, the negative-word-of-mouth hampered its business and it turned out to be a flop at the domestic market. Last Friday, two films got released in the form of Ayushmann Khurrana's Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Vicky Kaushal's Bhoot. Both the films were expected to do well at the ticket windows, but unfortunately, they underperformed and failed to fulfil the expectations at the box office.

Taapsee Pannu's Thappad has hit the screens today and has garnered positive reviews from the critics but looking at the genre, we are not expecting the film to make a huge noise at the box office

With two biggies Tiger Shroff's Baaghi 3 and Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi, we are expecting March to become a blockbuster month and end the dry spell of Bollywood. So, what are your expectations from the above two films? Tweet and let us know @bollywood_life
