Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas passes away at the age of 103
It's sad news for all the Hollywood fans reading this. Legendary actor Kirk Douglas has passed away. He was 103 and breathed his last on Wednesday. The sad news was revealed by his family members on Wednesday. Kirk Douglas was a son of a Jewish-Russian immigrant who rose through the ranks and worked hard to become one of the most loved and the biggest star that Hollywood or the film fraternity on the globe had ever seen. Douglas was one of the last survivors of the golden age of cinema. He was renowned for his machoism and little eccentric roles which he portrayed in his career spanning six decades. He did around 90 movies over or so but won millions of hearts.
"It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103," his son, movie star Michael Douglas, said in a statement posted to Facebook.
"To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to." the statement further read.
He turned a bit emotional and went on to add, "But to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great-grandchild their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband."
He heaped praise about Kirk's achievements and said that his work is an inspiration to many. "Kirk's life was well-lived, and he leaves a legacy in films that will endure for generations to come, and a history as a renowned philanthropist who worked to aid the public and bring peace to the planet," the post further read.
In the end, Micheal Douglas revealed his last words for his father, "Dad- I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son." Have a look at the post, here:
