Mr. India trilogy: Original director Shekhar Kapur to take legal action against makers of the remake

Ali Abbas Zafar recently had announced that he is collaborating with Zee Studios for the reboot franchise of Mr. India, which will be a trilogy. This did not go well with Sonam Kapoor and others who had been a part of the original film. Sonam Kapoor expressed her disappointment on social media of makers didn't even have a word with his father as she and Anil Kapoor didn't had any idea about this trilogy. Sonam Kapoor tweeted, "A lot of people have been asking me about the MR. India remake. Honestly, my father didn't even know the film was being remade, we found out about it through social media when @aliabbaszafar tweeted. It's quite disrespectful and underhanded if it is true since no one bothered to. consult my father or Shekhar uncle, two people who played a major role in making the film what it was and is. It's sad because that was a film made with heart and hard work and is very sentimental to my father, beyond commerce and announcements, it's a part of his legacy."

 

Though many users asked her that producer and uncle Boney Kapoor had earlier admitted in an interview with Midday regarding the possibility of the remake of this cult classic. The actress has now cleared the air with her latest tweet, which reads, "My father did have a word with him actually. we are all still very confused about how it was announced." Now, Shekar Kapur in a series of tweets has expressed his disappointment over the developments. He responded to Kunal Kohli's tweet and hinted that he would now take a leagal action against the makers. Kunal Kohli wrote, "Javed Akhtar won a hard-fought battle for the rights of lyricists and writers. Its time we did the same?" Shekhar Kapur replied to his tweet and wrote, "Yes. It's time to test this legally... Let's do it."

 

Shekhar Kapur had also posted a picture of Amrish Puri as Mogambo and had revealed how Mogambo would have reacted after hearing about Mr. India 2. He wrote, "Kya Kaha? Mr India 2 ? Is duniya mein koi aur Mogambo bhi hai?"
