Tuesday Trivia: When birthday girl Urmila Matondkar's striking resemblance to yesteryear actress Geeta Bali left Shammi Kapoor speechless
It's Urmila Matondkar's birthday today. The gorgeous actress clocks 46 years and we are so blessed to have witnessed her graceful beauty on screen. Urmila may be away from the silver screen now and we may miss watching her in films but hey, we can always revisit her hits, right? She appeared in Marathi film Zakol in 1980. Her stint in Shekhar Kapoor's Masoom won several hearts. Since then, there was no turning back. Urmila went on to feature in several commercially and critically acclaimed films like Chamatkar, Rangeela, Judaai, Daud, Satya, Janam Samjha Karo, Khoobsurat, Kunwara, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Bhoot, Om Jai Jagdish and Pinjar to name a few.
Her acting chops coupled with her glamorous looks made Urmila Matondkar a favourite of many. Her dancing skills made many girls want to groove like her. She featured in various genres of films, winning several accolades over a storied career. However, apart from her roles and accomplishments before the camera, did you ever notice the striking resemblance she bore to yesteryear actress Geeta Bali? Yep, that's true. Urmila was often complimented for her resemblance to the late star. In fact, none less than another legend, the late Shammi Kapoor, who was married to Geeta Bali till the actress had succumbed to an untimely demise in 1965, spoke about Urmila's features resembling his wife.
For the uninitiated, Shammi Kapoor and Urmila Matondkar worked together in Jaanam Samjha Karo. The film was a romantic drama that also starred Salman Khan in the lead. On the personal front, Urmila is happily married to Kashmir-based model turned businessman, Mohsin Akhtar. The duo fell in love with each other and tied the knot in 2016. Since then, Mohsin has shifted to Mumbai to focus on his modeling career.
