Angrezi Medium Box Office collection Day 2: Irrfan Khan-Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer gets trapped in the Coronavirus outbreak; sees a downfall

Irrfan Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Radhika Madan starrer released this Friday. The film has been one of the most awaited ones as it was the comeback movie of Irrfan Khan. This is a spin-off of the 2017 film Hindi Medium and the story is about a native Haryanvi businessman who tries to send his daughter to London for achieving a degree in the English Language. The Coronavirus outbreak in the country has had a very bad effect on films. Many have been postponed while others have suffered at the Box Office. Baaghi 3 which has been running successfully is struggling to cross the 100 crore mark as the theatres have been shut down in many states. Angrezi Medium too had seen a huge downfall on its first day. The managed to collect on Rs. 4.03 crore which is a very low figure. The second day also turned out to be a nightmare for the film as it collected only Rs. 2.75.

As per a Box Office India report, the second-day collections of the film dropped on Saturday, with the film making an estimated Rs 2.75 crore nett on day 2. This has taken the total in two days to Rs 6.78 crore. Not just the Coronavirus scare, the film was also leaked online on its first day itself by Tamilrockers. On Friday, hours within the release of Angrezi Medium, the film was leaked online by TamilRockers. This is another reason why the film saw a dull start. This is a more expensive film at a landing cost of 40 cr (including P & A), so recovery will be difficult if it doesn't trend well.

 

The film has received mixed reactions from fans as well as critics. Pankaj Sabnani from BollywoodLife has given the film 2.5 stars and has written, "Angrezi Medium has some great ideas but they don't translate on screen. Even superlative performances by Irrfan, Radhika Madan and Deepak Dobriyal don't prove enough. I'm going with 2.5 stars."
