Coronavirus pandemic: 'Nobody can guide or check you all the time,' Kirti Kulhari voices her displeasure at people panicking and hoarding [Exclusive]

A couple of days prior to the nationwide lockdown, which we now all have to strictly adhere to due to ongoing threat of the coronavirus pandemic, PM Narendra Modi had sanctioned a janta curfew on, wherein he had also requested everyone to venture out to their balcony at 5 pm in the evening and clap or bang their utensils in commemoration of the selfless service of our medical personnel and law enforcement officer. However, as usual a bunch of people had to interpret it in their own way, and decided to leave their brains at home while taking the rest of their bodies out onto the streets to celebrate the event, turning what was meant to be a simple display of gratitude and an exercise in community building into a precarious situation.

This led the PM's critics to soon question the prudence behind his request and ask brand the entire exercise as futile. Now, with all of us under quarantine given the coronavirus outbreak, we are busy conducting interviews from home either over the phone or via live Insta chats with Bollywood celebs. During one such exclusive interview with Kirti Kulhari, we thought of gathering her thoughts on the topic, considering how she always makes very valid points in an articulate manner. Shedding light on her views, Kirti not only wholeheartedly supported the PM's decisions, but also advised people to not panic during the lockdown, especially with so many still venturing out daily to hoard more groceries and other essentials than they require.

"I, personally, loved the idea of the whole nation stepping united and being united in clapping for those 5-10 minutes and standing up and showing solidarity that we really need at this point. So, I was very much in favour of that decision. Having said that, the message I'd want to give to people is to not panic. I know the days of lockdown are quite many, but just be very mindful. Nobody can guide or check you all the time, people need to start understanding the situation themselves, be very mindful of how much to do, what to do, when to do. Apart from that, one more thing that comes to mind is the whole resources bit: There are people out there who are panicking and hoarding. Because you are hoarding and because you have the money to hoard, you are depriving many more people who can't afford to hoard. So, please learn to share. Again, be mindful of how much you need. You don't need to eat more than you need to. And when I say resources, you also need to be careful of other resources like consumption of water and electricity at such a time. We need to think about others now."

Wise words from a very wise lady. Kirit Kulhari will next be seen in season two of Four More Shots Please.
