Coronavirus pandemic: 'People are making fake doctor's prescriptions or lying about their relative's health to trick the police and leave their homes,' says Tanhaji actor Sharad kelkar [Exclusive]
With the coronavirus pandemic spreading panic and pandemonium throughout the world, India, too, has borne the effects of this deadly outbreak both in terms of people infected (fortunately, not as much as several countries across the globe) and the uninfected flouting the guidelines laid down by the central and state governments for our safety (unfortunately, far more than most other countries). However, we being responsible citizens have decided to strictly abide by what's good for us and others. We also know though that our readers and viewers crave for their regular fix of Bollywood news, and so, to fulfill your desires, we've begun fun and interactive live chats on Instagram with your favourite Bollywood celebs.
Recently, BollywoodLife got in touch with the immensely talented Sharad Kelkar (easily one of the best baritones Bollywood has been blessed with) for a warm, humorous, yet intelligent Insta Live chat, where we touched upon everything from his past roles to recent success with Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Family Man and Special Ops to his earnest pleas to everyone to strictly follow the quarantine. Check out this fabulous interview in the video below:
Speaking about how he has seen people conjuring up some ridiculous tactics to venture out during lockdown and fool the cops, Sharad said, "Fromy my heart I want to know what people want? Are we over confident or are we stupid or do we just want to show people that we can do anything, like, what do we want...I can't understand it. A small task has been given to sit at home, but we can't even follow that. Shops are opened 24x7, then why are we panicking. Why do you want to go outside and roam so much...just sit at home. There are so many TV shows, web series, watch them. There's a big reason you've been told to do this; there's a lot of risk in venturing outside. You've gone outside and stepped somewhere that someone has spat and the coronavirus will enter your home stuck to your slipper. When you don't know about something, you need to make more precaution., but people are just behaving more difficult. I had to complain to the cops about 25-30 children playing cricket where I live. So many people are making fake doctor's prescriptions or lying about their relative's health to trick the police and leave their homes. People are still going out to parks. We don't know who has touched what, then you'll touch the same thing."
Elaborating on what the simple things people need to do, Sharad added, "If you can't understand these basic things, you need to educate yourself. You should have listened to your parents while growing up instead of rebelling so much. Maybe, you'd have turned out a bit more sensible. It's time you understand what's necessary. Only a lockdown has been implemented, be thankful of that. If people don't improve, then a curfew will have to be imposed, then everything will be closed. There are so many options today with video calling and good internet, then why are people going outside for no valid reason, is beyond me. Meet people when everything is all right, otherwise we many not be around to meet each other. Spend time with your family, your elders, your kids, do the things you couldn't do till now."
We think it's high time you take this good advise and like Sharad Kelkar suggested, follow the basic things to stay safe during these precarious times. Stay tuned to BollywoodLife for all the latest scoops and updates.
