Coronavirus pandemic: Shooting of Shilpa Shetty-Abhimanyu Dassani's Nikamma suspended indefinitely

After Ranbir Kapoor's Brahmastra and Shahid Kapoor's Jersey, Abhimanyu Dassani and Shilpa Shetty's Nikamma faces the heat of coronavirus as the shooting of this romantic-comedy gets suspended indefinitely. The cast and crew were supposed to start the shooting of the final 10-day schedule of the film this week, as Nikamma is set to hit the screens on June 5. But with the indefinite postpone, we doubt whether the film will release on the given time or not.

A source close to the film told Mumbai Mirror, The team was supposed to film a love song and a few scenes on a set in a city studio. When the number of diagnosed cases started to increase, they thought it would be safer to postpone the shoot till the situation

improves. The source further added that the set has been dismantled and will be put together once the shooting gets resumed.

With Nikamma, Shilpa Shetty is making a comeback on the silver screen after 13 long years. Talking about it the actress told TOI, "It feels great. I am ready to take the plunge again. It's a refreshing and unique project, and I am looking forward to working with Sabbir. I loved my role as it's something that I have never attempted before. I can't wait for the audience to see me in a new avatar." Her director, Sabbir Khan, on the other hand, stated, "Shilpa was very clear that her comeback would have to be with a worthy role. It's a dynamic part and I am happy to have her on board and bring her back for her fans who have missed her."
