Janhvi Kapoor was already famous before her Bollywood debut. The actress often made public appearances with her late mother, the legendary Sridevi, father Boney Kapoor and sisterKhushi Kapoor. She had also been modeling for Manish Malhotra, who was and still is a great admirer of Sridevi. On the work front, Janhvi Kapoor was supposed to have a very busy year with a couple of films lined up for release, including Gunjan Saxena, a biographical drama on India's first female pilot to operate in a war zone, which was supposed to release on 13th March. It was later pushed to 24th April, but as a result of lockdown owing to COVID-19, the release of the film has been indefinitely postponed. Janhvi also had Roohi Afzana in the pipeline, a quirky horror-comedy that also stars Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma in key roles. Roohi Afzana is scheduled to release on 5th June 2020, but there's no certainty now that it'll keep that date.

Other than that, Janhvi also has another comedy, Dostana 2, alongside Kartik Aaryan and Lakshya. Janhvi also has a period drama from mentor Karan Johar, titled Takht an ensemble film that also stars Ranveer Singh, Bhumi Pednekar, Anil Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khan in key roles. Takht has been pushed to 2021.
