Not Sushmita Sen but THIS actress was the first choice for Ram Madhvani's Aarya

Former Miss Universe and gorgeous beauty Sushmita Sen was missing from the silver screen for quite some time but made an impressive comeback with Ram Madhvani's Aarya as she garnered unanimous praise post the release of the promo. While we can't wait to watch the digital show, which will be streaming in the next 10 days, you will be amazed to know that Sushmita Sen was not the first choice for the lead role and it was offered to superstar and Tanhaji actress Kajol.

As per the PinkVilla report, a source said, "When Ram Madhvani was planning this project - a remake of the 2010 gritty drama series Penoza, it was originally being made into a Hindi feature film. Kajol was his first choice and they were in advanced talks with the actress for the film. She had loved the concept and the storyline but had to step out last minute citing personal issues. That had also put Ram's dream project under a bit of a scanner since it delayed the process a bit."

The source further added that post this incident Ram thought of Sushmita Sen. "Aarya has the female lead playing the central protagonist and he wanted someone who has a commanding screen presence and is also a terrific performer. That's when he thought of Sush and offered it to her. Among the many offers that she had, Sushmita liked this the most and then, it was decided that it would be made into a digital series with Hotstar coming on board. Sush did take her time but eventually gave a green signal to Ram," said the source. Aarya is based on the Dutch drama series Penoza by Pieter Bart Korthuis and also stars Chandrachur Singh and Sikander Kher in pivotal roles. So, are you excited to watch this series?
