Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai's Sachin Tyagi opens up on the current track; says, 'Performing with Mohsin Khan made it easier' [EXCLUSIVE]

Rajan Shahi's Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai enjoys a massive fan-base. It has been among the most watched shows on television and is the only Hindi GEC to have completed 3000 episodes. The storyline always attracts many eyeballs. As per the latest track, Kartik's father, Manish Goenka, has met with an accident and will become a child in his mind. Sachin Tyagi, who plays Manish, has given an excellent performance and has been appreciated for his portrayal of a mentally challenged character. In an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife, Sachin Tyagi spoke about essaying his role. He said, "An actor uses his life's experience to perform. This character was such that 40-45 years of Manish's life have been wiped off from his memory. He started acting like a child. In such a situation, you need to think that if a kid of 3-4 years old is stuck between strangers, how scared and insecure he is going to be. You must have seen that if a kid gets lost at a mall, railway station or any public area, you see how incessantly they cry and they are not ready to listen to you. So that is the fear."

"It is like a small kid is at fun-fair with his father and he is completely enjoying the rides, the games, the music, lights that are around. However, suddenly, he is separated from his father. All that fun he was having is lost as the real happiness was in holding his father's hand and feeling secure. So, actually, the child is very insecure without familiar faces and a familiar environment. So that is what has happened with Manish Goenka. There is fear and doubt in him because he does not recognise anyone. Loud noises scare him so he is like a child right now. So the challenge is to try and understand the psychology of a child, which, invariably, you fail to, but that is why we have kids who feel they are alone and are not looked after even with everyone around them. So that is what I have tried to understand: The psychology of a kid and then tried to perform to the best of my physical and emotional capabilities."

Sachin Tyagi also spoke about performing his scenes alongside Mohsin Khan, with whom he shares a good bond. Sachin Tyagi said, "Yes, it's always easier when you have an emotional bond or certain comfort level with someone. But, honestly, if you are an actor, then it ideally should not matter whether you are performing with a stranger or whether you are doing it with someone you just cannot get along with or someone who does not like you at all. Maybe, there is someone with whom you do not speak to, but when you perform with them it should be magically. So that's acting. But, yes, it's easier to perform with people whom you know well. There is a level of comfort that Mohsin and I share. I have a lot of affection and respect for how hardworking he is and I think the feeling is mutual. But even if it wasn't there, then that should not have deterred me to perform to the best of my ability. I would have had to try a lot harder but I would have still done the role. It's just easier that Mohsin and I share a good bond, but then, an actor's job is to perform irrespective of who you are working with."

Sachin Tyagi spoke about the producer of the show, Rajan Shahi. He shared, "Rajan Shahi is upfront and speaks honestly with everyone. There are people in the industry who sometimes over-commit or make big promises, but Rajan Shahi is not like that. Rajan will showcase a character as it is. He showcases the world as it is in his shows. He is a very sincere and honest man and very down to earth. It's not like that he comes to the set and acts like a boss. When he is on set, he is just like one of us. He is a very humble human being and that is what reflects in his work. And whatever he is making, if you see all the shows, it's all about human emotions. Whenever a serial starts, the basic premise ends within 15-20 days, and after that, there's always a new story. You have to start a new track, new characters, new angels, but Rajan Shahi's shows are always about social issues, emotions. It's the fabric that it is made of. In totality, his serials are made of emotions and effectively, what happens, is only about human interaction."

Sachin Tyagi has portrayed the role of Manish Goenka for many years now. The actor also spoke about his journey on the show. He said, "It has been a long journey. Manish has had his own journey from being a very rigid, 'my way or the highway' kind of a guy to being a very loving father, a good human being, a father figure to his brothers and his kids and everyone in the family and being a toddler himself now. So, it has been quite amazing and it has had many shades and it is a rainbow kind of a journey. So, yea, I have seen a lot of colours, a lot of shades and I have a feeling that I will continue to play many more new shades in this character. So I enjoyed it thoroughly."
