Avalkoppam: Revathy, Parvathy support the victim as witnesses like Siddique and Bhama turn hostile in 2017 Dileep assault case
In what can be described as a jolt to the legal proceedings, star witnesses like filmmaker Siddique and actress Bhaama apparently turned hostile in the 2017 Malayalam actress abduction and sexual assault case. As we know, it allegedly involves one of the top stars of the Malayalam industry, Dileep. Actresses like Revathy, Rima Kallingal, Parvathy, Remya and others have come forward in solidarity with her. Filmmaker Aashiq Abu has also said that he will support the victim till the end. Revathy wrote on social media, "It's sad that we can't trust our own colleagues in the film industry. So many years of work, so many projects, but when there is an issue for a 'woman' it all takes a back seat. There is no memory of all that friendship and shared work space." The case is on at the Kochi High Court. Revathy started the hashtag #Avalkoppam. That is the location where the incident happened.
The senior actress is especially disappointed with Bhaama. She wrote, "In the famous but not spoken much about these days, the Actress Assault case of 2017, Edavela Babu and Bindu Panniker pulled back on their own statements in court, well could not have expected much from them. And now it's Mr Siddique and Bhamaa. I suppose one can understand why Mr Siddique did it but Bhamaa??? Having been a friend and confidant she too denies what she told the cops soon after the incident."

A survivor has been put through hoops of fire and constant trauma for over three years. We have seen her stand tall and fight for justice. It has a been plain torture. I'm in shock at how witnesses are turning hostile. #Avalkoppam #IStandByTheSurvivor pic.twitter.com/P5Q4I62kZr

Filmmaker Aashiq Abu wrote on Facebook, "No wonder the old actor and heroine actress have changed. By taking a favorable stand for the cruelty that happened, these people are also becoming the favor of the crimes. Still the supporters will come together hidden and clear. They think that the law system and the public can always be fooled. Whatever the verdict of this case, will be with the victim until the doors of the final law and regulations are closed. #Only with her."
Remya Nambeesan wrote on Facebook, "Truth hurts but betrayal? When some one you thought is fighting along with you suddenly changes colour, it hurts. Deeply. I have heard about witnesses turning hostile in cases but when the survivor is your own how can you betray her? The fight is real and ultimately truth will triumph. For both the survivor and women at large, this fight will go on. #Avalkoppam"
The case involving an young actress sent shock waves across the industry. After investigations, the police discovered that the whole plan was allegedly orchestrated by a group of eight people. The mastermind of the attack was accused No.8, popular Malayalam actor Dileep. Senior actress Bhaama has earlier told the cops that a fight had interrupted between the victim and Dileep during a dance rehearsal for an awards function. Earlier, actors like Edavela Babu and Bindhu Panicker also turned hostile in the case by retracting the initial statements given to the cops.
