Happy birthday, Prem Chopra: Revisit 7 famous dialogues of Bollywood’s iconic villain that made him a legend

'Prem naam hai mera... Prem Chopra.' It wouldn't be wrong to say that this particular dialogue of the veteran actor from the 1973 classic, Bobby, established him as one of the most iconic villains of all time. You may wonder how, but the reason is pretty simple actually. It is none other than his spine-chilling dialogue delivery that brings out the cunningness of the character in his voice. Which is why he was also one of the most hated personalities on screen as back in the day, the audience was prone to take things quite literally. His charisma, his inimitable portrayal of the most vile characters, and the way he made his presence felt despite being cast against popular leading stars, was no less than a magical ride.

The veteran actor has brought many varied characters alive on the big screen but his villainous streak made him the legend he is today. He was mostly known for his stint during the 70s and 80s. His onscreen persona became so etched in people's heart and minds that there was a time that people used to feel afraid of him. Stories have been passed down about how men outside the film industry used to hide their wives whenever they would see him.

Prem Chopra, the legend, turns 85 today, 23rd September, and there couldn't be a better occassion to celebrate his life and cinematic journey by remembering some of his popular dialogues that created havoc on the silver screen, but has left an indelible mark on the audience down the years. Take a look

Prem Chopra

'Main woh balaa hoon, jo sheeshey se patthar ko todta hoon' And trust us, only Prem saab is capable of doing this next to impossible act.

'Baat jab apni maut par aati hai na, toh saari khidkiyaan khul jaati hain' Well, this holds true for everyone, doesn't it?

'Agar opposition janta ko bhaashan deti hai, toh hum janta ko raashan dengey' Umm this dialogue might not fit in today's political situation but... never mind.

'Nanga nahaayega kya, aur nichodega kya' This was one of the most bitter truths of all time.

'Main jo aag lagaata hoon, usey bujhaana bhi jaanta hoon' Don't try this in your real life, okay?

'Kar bhalaa toh ho bhalaa' Why not, what you sow so shall you reap.

'Jinke ghar sheeshey ke hotey hain, woh batti bujhaakar kapdey badaltey hain' Couldn't agree more, Prem sir, and a very, very happy birthday to you.
