Kangana Ranaut and her sister, Rangoli, summoned by the Mumbai Police in sedition case

Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli Chandel, both have been known for their frank statements be it in interviews or on social media. They recently made news when the two of them were accused of spreading communal hatred through their tweets. An FIR has been filed against both the sisters for the same. And now, four days after the filing of the FIR, a summons has been issued for Kangana and Rangoli. The two sisters have been summoned on two separate days. "Kangana has been asked to present herself before police on October 26, while Rangoli has been called on October 27," said the deputy commissioner of police, Abhishek Trimukhe.

Casting director Sahil Ashrafali Sayyed had lodged the complaint in the court, seeking its direction for registration of an FIR under IPC sections 153A (promoting enmity), 295A (malicious acts intended to outrage the religious feelings), 124A (sedition) against the actor and her sister, his lawyer Ravish Zamindar said.

The complainant has alleged that the actor has been defaming Bollywood for the last two months by calling it a "hub of nepotism", "favouritism", etc, through her tweets and television interviews. In the complaint, he said that Ranaut has tweeted "very objectionable" comments, which has not only hurt his religious sentiments, but also the feelings of many artists.

The FIR states that the sisters are trying to "malign the Indian Constitution and image of the Maharashtra government, hurt sentiments of Muslims and tried to create division between Hindus and Muslims." Hitherto, Kangana grabbed headlines when she had a spat with Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and chief Uddhav Thackeray. Meanwhile, she has been celebrating Navratri and participating in her cousin's wedding. When she posted a picture of her Navratri look post which she received rape threats from an Odisha based lawyer. The lawyer denied the same saying that his ID was hacked. "Today my Facebook ID got hacked at evening and some derogatory comments get posted. This is my not views regarding any women or any community. I am also very shocked and apologise for it. I request to all the people of kindly accept my apology and forgive me whose sentiments got hurt. I am really sorry for it," he wrote before deleting his account.
