Ekta Kapoor denies a social media user's theory of Kajal from Hum Paanch being an LGBT icon in the 90s

Hum Paanch is one of the most iconic TV shows to ever grace Indian television. It still resonates with the audience who has watched it and has a massive fan base as well. And since there are fans, there would be fan theories as well. Now, a social media user named Imaan Sheikh had put up a post reasoning why Kajal's character from Hum Paanch was an LGBT icon from the 90s. Sharing some pictures and videos from the TV show featuring Kajal aka Bhairavi Raichura.

The social media user listed her reasons in the captioned saying, "Kajal from "Hum Paanch" was a '90s LGBT icon. Kajal was called "Kajal Bhai" (Brother/Don Kajal). Everyone at home used she/her pronouns for Kajal, but Kajal used he/him pronouns to self-reference. Gender-nonconforming style: Kajal always dressed in conventionally male-presenting, loose clothes. Kajal Bhai told people to fuck off when they recommended dressing "like a girl." Check out the clapback clip in this carousel. lol didn't even spare grandma." Now, Ekta Kapoor, the producer of the show reacted to the post. She shared Imaan's post on her Instagram stories and had denied her theory. "Hmm! Nope How u wish! But def a non conformist," Ekta had captioned it. Check out the snapshot of the same below:

One of the social media users commented on Imaan's post saying, "Not to contradict you for the sake of it, but I'm genuinely curious about this. I'm not sure if she was LGBTQ+ simply because of her gender non-conforming style. I don't remember there being a love interest of the sort so I could be wrong or maybe the creators thought Indian families in the 90s just weren't ready for that!"

Hum Paanch, the iconic sitcom starred veteran actor Ashok Saraf as Anand Mathur, Priya Tendulkar as his dead wife, Shoma Anand as Bina Mathur, Vandana Pathak as Meenakshi Mathur, Vidya Balan (replaced Amita Nangia) as Radhika Mathur, Rakhi Vijan as Sweety Mathur to name a few. It had three seasons and aired between 1995 to 2006.
