Housefull 4: ‘Bangdu Maharaj is Riteish's alter-ego,' says Pooja Hegde

Housefull 4, featuring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kharbandha and Pooja Hegde, has released today. The Farhad Samji directorial is a reincarnation comedy that spans over a period of 600 years 1419 to 2019. Everyone's playing a double role in the fourth instalment of Housefull. Talking about Riteish Deshmukh, he plays Bangdu Maharaj in the 1419 era and Roy in the present day. Needless to add, the actor had to prep a bit for his role as an Indian classical dancer. While we were on the Housefull 4 express with the stars, Riteish, in conversation with the media, shed light on his character.

Before Riteish could start, Pooja mentioned in jest that Bangdu Maharaj is his alter-ego. To which, Riteish added, "This (interviews) what I am doing right now is my alter-ego." Jokes apart, he retorted, "It was an exciting character. To stay surrounded by girls, he becomes Bangdu Maharaj. When you will see the screenplay of the film, you will know how all the characters are connected to each other. It's interesting."

Adding to it, Pooja stated, "It (his character) is damn funny. Riteish (in the film) teaches us dance and for that, we used to train for Kathak for long. Everyone was struggling and suddenly Riteish would come for 30 seconds, give all his adahs and just leave. And we would be ashamed."

If this doesn't get you excited to watch the film, we don't what will. Riteish has been associated with the Housefull franchise since its inception. To simply put it, Riteish and Akshay are the only ones who have been constants in the Housefull franchise and their friendship has grown over the years. Talking about his equation with Akki, the actor recently told Mumbai Mirror, "When we need to say something that should stay between us, we communicate by simply looking at each other. Akshay is a friend and brother who'll always be there for me and vice versa." And we hope, they continue to be best buddies.
