Chennai box office: After Petta and Viswasam, Thalapathy Vijay's Bigil becomes third film of 2019 to achieve THIS feat

Thalapathy Vijay's Bigil has completed 25 blockbuster days at the box office and is still going strong across the globe. The sports drama has crossed the Rs 13 crore mark in the Chennai market and has become the third film of 2019 to achieve this feat after Rajinikanth's Petta and Thala Ajith's Viswasam. Since Dhruv Vikram's Adithya Varma will hit the screens in the coming week, Bigil will face a solid screen crunch at the ticket windows.

Produced by AGS Entertainment on a whopping budget of Rs. 180 crore, Bigil has been dubbed in Telugu as Whistle. Bigil, which also stars Jackie Shroff, Nayanthara, Kathir, Yogi Babu, and Vivek in crucial roles, features Vijay in a dual roles of a father and son. As the father, Vijay is seen in a gangster avatar, while he plays the coach of a women's football team as the son. The makers spent Rs 6 crore just to erect a football stadium for a pivotal sequence.

Talking about the reviews, our critic Russel D'Silva gave the film 3.5 stars and wrote, "Bigil is a rip-roaring masala entertainer that smartly balances its mass elements with an emotional story, pulsating sports drama, and hard-hitting gangster dynamics.
