Did Arjun Kapoor took help from Ranveer Singh for Sadashiv Rao Bhau’s portrayal? Panipat actor answers

Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra's Panipat is set to hit the screens next Friday and the cine-goers are more than excited to watch this magnum opus on the silver screen. Soon after the trailer release, audience drew a comparison between Arjun's Sadashiv Rao Bhau character and Ranveer Singh's Peshwa Bajirao from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani. In a recent interview with Midday, when Arjun was asked whether he exchanged notes with Ranveer for his portrayal in Panipat, he replied, "Ashu Sir and Sanjay Sir make magnum opuses, but they have different temperaments. Here, I respected my director's temperament. I wanted to remain loyal to my story. Ranveer would have given me his point of view which would be from Sanjay sir's understanding. I have tremendous respect for Ranveer's work. But this film didn't require me to seek help as Bajirao and Sadashiv are from different eras."

Apart from Arjun, even Kriti Sanon's Parvati Bai character was compared to Priyanka Chopra's Kashi Bai from SLB's same film to which the Heropanti star replied, "I was expecting comparisons when I signed the film. Padmaavat too was compared to Baahubali. The period of Panipat and Bajirao is similar. The setting is similar because the Peshwas lived in Shaniwar Wada, and they dressed in a certain way. But the characters are different."

Well, the film is just a week away from its release and we hope it emerges a winner at the ticket windows. Directed by Lagaan and Swades helmer Ashutosh Gowariker, the film also features Sanjay Dutt, Mohnish Bahl, Padmini Kolhapure and Zeenat Aman in key roles.
