Filmy Friday: Before Bala, here are 4 films that dealt with male pattern baldness

It's Friday today and Ayushmann Khurrana's Bala is all set to hit the silver screens. It deals with a rather touchy topic in men balding. Bala is an Amar Kaushik directorial that narrates the struggles of a young man who is suffering from alopecia, his struggles of living in the societal pressure that is gifted as soon as his hair fall begins which leads to lack of self-confidence.

To tell you the truth, this is not the only film to feature a balding man playing the lead role. Hitherto, there were 4 more films in India that brushed upon the touchy subject. Let's check them out:

Ondu Motteya Kathe

Ondu Motteya Kathe is a Kannada film that tells the story of a bachelor who is balding at the age of 30. How he meets a girl who happens to click with him and how he overcomes his fear of not finding a suitable girl for marriage forms the crux of the story. The film starred Raj B. Shetty as Janardhana, Usha Bhandary as Janardhana's mother, Amrutha Naik as E-Madam, Shreya Anchan as Marketing Girl/ Moha, Shailashree as Sarala and Deepak Rai Panaje as Guruji.

I Am 24

I am 24 starred Rajat Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey, Neha Dhupia, Manjari Fadnis, Delnaaz Irani and Saurabh Shukla playing the main roles. I Am 24 follows the story of a 42-year-old balding writer falls in love with a 22-year-old beauty queen. In order to woo her, he is tempted to lie about his age. Hair Is Falling

Hair is falling is a 2011's film that deals with the problem of hair loss in youth. The tagline of the film read: A Serious Comedy. Hair Is Falling narrated the story of a college-going fellow who ignores his hair fall problem. How it affects his modeling career and how he overcomes the situation forms the crux of the story. Ujda Chaman

Ujda Chaman is in fact a Bollywood remake of Ondu Motteya Kathe. The film stars Sunny Singh, Maanvi Gagroo, Saurabh Shukla, Karishma Sharma, Aishwarya Sakhuja in key roles. It even got in a legal controversy with Bala for the same content. Here's the trailer of Ujda Chaman:
