Marjaavaan box office collection day 7 early estimates: Sidharth Malhotra-Riteish Deshmukh's film ends its first week on a good note

After enjoying a healthy opening weekend, Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh's Marjaavaan remained stable in the weekdays and ended its first week on a good note by raking in around Rs 38 crore. Since Anees Bazmee's multi-starrer Pagalpanti has released today, Marjaavaan will face a solid screen crunch at the ticket windows though we are expecting the Milap Zaveri directorial to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in its theatrical run.

Actor Sidharth Malhotra says he is happy that people have accepted him as an action hero once again with Marjaavaan. "Ek Villain and Brothers introduced me as an action hero. I did not cater to this audience and today I am happy that they have given this kind of response to Marjaavaan," Sidharth said. In Marjaavaan, Sidharth plays a larger-than-life hero who breaks bones and utters dialogues that reminds of the Angry Young Man image of Bollywood's retro era. He plays a hotheaded young man who falls in love with a girl who cannot speak.

Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani (known for directing Batla House, D-Day, Kal Ho Naa Ho) has co-produced the film and has the complete credit of Marjaavaan's success to its director. "I cannot take credit for Marjaavaan. It is entirely Milap's (Zaveri) film because I don't make such films. At the trailer launch of 'Marjaavaan', too, I said I don't want to take credit for this film because it is Milap's conviction. He believes in certain kind of audience and certain kind of films. I still make films like 'Batla House' and 'Airlift'. So, Milap loves audiences and I love telling stories -- that's the difference between us. I think it is completely his victory," said Advani, while interacting with the media at the special screening of the web series named 'Out Of Love' on Wednesday in Mumbai.
