2019 Recap: From Janhvi Kapoor to Kartik Aaryan - Bollywood stars who moved to the digital space this year

2019 was the year when the digital medium saw an outburst of content. There were some highly appreciated and successful shows that launched in the year and changed the way the Indian audience watched content. With shows like Four More Shots Please, Made in Heaven, The Family Man, Sacred Games 2, Kaafir becoming a rage amongst the viewers, the digital platform came neck-to-neck with the silver screen this year. Viewers who were quite done with Naagin and Chudail on television streamed shows online shifted to web shows like never before.

The success of digital shows also saw several big names entering the online space. So here's a list of mainstream Bollywood actors who tested the digital waters.

Manoj Bajpayee

As the year inched towards it's climax, Amazon Prime released terror drama The Family Man. The Raj & DK directorial saw acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee making his digital debut. Bajpayee was much appreciated for his character and acting prowess, resulting in him reprising the character in the upcoming second season.

Emraan Hashmi

Emraan Hashmi's long stuck film Tigers finally saw the day of the light. The movie released on Zee5 making Hashmi's digital debut. However, soon the actor was also seen in a digital series Bard of Blood which was produced by Shah Rukh Khan.

Kartik Aaryan

Just like Hashmi, Aaryan's short film Silvat also saw the light of day this year. The poignant drama streamed on Zee5 earlier this year without much showsha.

Janhvi Kapoor

One film old Janhvi Kapoor will also be seen in a digital movie just when the year is coming to an end. Anthology series Ghost Stories will see Kapoor in Zoya Akhtar's short. This will also be Janhvi's first tryst with the horror genre.

Jacqueline Fernandes

Jacqueline Fernandes will also be seen in the soon to be released digital series Mrs. Serial Killer. The show also stars Manoj Bajpayee and Mohit Raina. The series will be out on Netflix next year. The actress finished shooting for the show.

Bonus

Not just these actors, there were other Bollywood actors as well who made their digital debut. Dia Mirza returned to the acting space after a long time with the critically hit Kaafir. Mallika Sherawat and Tusshar Kapoor made their debuts with horror comedy Booo Sabki Phategi. Arunoday Singh, Mahie Gill, Sayani Gupta were the other few actors who also saw the digital world this year.
