Harleen Sethi on her family’s mindset toward her past relationship: “We’re all in a much better space now; we’ve all moved forward”

Producer Ekta Kapoor's highly successful web series, Broken but Beautiful has returned for a second season, and the good news is that it's been received as well as the first season was, with positive reviews and an outpouring of love emerging from all quarters across social media. Now, as much as Ekta, Director Santosh Singh and writer Reshu Nath deserve credit for creating such a beautiful show that resonates so well, especially with today's youth, the actors, too, merit equal praise for efficaciously conveying their vision to the audience. The lines they mouth and the expressions they portray are right on the money so much so that you can actually feel their pain and longing, with Vikrant Massey and Harleen Sethi the two mainstays of the show being the standouts amidst the fine ensemble on display.

BollywoodLife recently sat down for a heart-to-heart with the two actors, where they not only spoke about Broken but Beautiful season 2, but also opened up on a range of other topics from Vikrant underlining how box-office numbers neither influence nor affect his choice of projects to Harleen speaking on she and her family have moved on from her alleged relationship and breakup with Vicky Kaushal (neither confirmed being together, but it was the talk of the town at one point). Check out their full interview below:

Talking about his critically acclaimed films like A Death in the Gunj not making a lot of money at the box-office and how it his decisions neither stem nor will ever be based on such factors, Vikrant said, "I don't think I'll ever approach any film or any other project with the notion that it has to make money. I'm the last person who'll approach anything, thinking what it'll do at the box-office. What matters is if people will resonate with me will they cry if I cry, will they laugh if I laugh I think that's paramount for me. And a good film will draw good audiences. Since we're speaking about A Death in the Gunj; it was a very small film and had opened at only about 350 screens.

"For a film that was initially allotted only 350 screens, to end up running for 3-and-a-half weeks, with eventually the distributors and theatre owners realising that the footfalls of the film are increasing day by day, prompting them to push it to approximately 550 screens that was certainly a boost for all of us (those involved with the film). We thought the film would only run for a week, but for a film that was absolutely non-commercial; a trilingual film to run in theaters for 3-and-a-half weeks was commendable."

Adding her thoughts on the topic, Harleen said, "I think like that, me and Vikrant share a similar wavelength. I also just want to enjoy what I do. We don't think like that (about the box-office). I think we connect with the script, the character, and just enjoy the process. You don't know if a video (her dance on the Lamberghini video) of yours is going to get that many millions of views or if a film is going to have that many box-office records you don't know all that. What you can be true to; what's in your hand is to live the characters honestly, dance with honesty in that moment, or sing or whatever you do I think that is what matters; I think the process is what gives us more happiness. After that if the result is good, that's the cherry on the cake."

Moving on, Harleen also was gracious enough to speak about her past, mentioning how both she and her family are in a better space now (in an earlier interview to another portal, the actress had stated that her previous relationship and the chatter about it didn't affect her as much as it affected her family). "Yes, we're all in a much better space now; we've all moved forward and it's all peaceful."
