Emraan Hashmi on competition: Bollywood is not for the faint-hearted

Emraan Hashmi who would be next seen in The Body has had an unconventional acting career so far. Avoiding the usual, Emraan always stood out on the choice of films. He has always been the one to take up projects that would add to his career graph. In recent times, Bollywood has seen a drastic change in the kind of films that have been made. There have been comic capers with ensemble casts, there have been period dramas, mystery thrillers and so on, that have had multiple actors. The competition has become fierce today.

Each actor has the specific skillset and they are always in on their toes, working towards the next big thing in Bollywood. Emraan is not unaware of the competition and is of the opinion that the competition has increased many folds in the recent past. While talking to Mid-Day about the same, Emraan said, "It's more fierce today than it was 10 years ago. Ask a producer who is vying to rope in two actors, and he'll agree,"

Emraan further added to it saying, "Actors are constantly worried about how they would be showcased when compared to their co-actor. I won't claim that I don't think about it too. But, after a point, I submit to the story." And with the advent and progress of technology and since social media is on one's fingertips it's easier for people to share and spread rumours without fact-checking. Emraan feels that people should be responsible when handling social media as the platform also has some cons. "People are constantly pitting one [actor] against the other, establishing hierarchy, and trying to fit everyone in a certain category. When stars grow insecure, the film becomes about them, and their tussle. Bollywood is not for the faint-hearted." The actor signed off.
