Peter Sarsgaard joins Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves' The Batman - read deets

Ever since the makers of The Batman have announced the film, the hype around it is just increasing. Matt Reeves who would be helming the film is leaving no stone unturned to rope in a cast that would help him recreate the Bat-world yet again. As per the latest developments, Reeves just confirmed that actor Peter Sarsgaard has been roped in for a role in 'The Batman'.

The news was shared by Reeves, himself, on his Twitter handle on Saturday. In the post, we can see a gif of Peter saying hi. Reeves wrote, "Oh... Hi, Peter..." Reeves followed by the bat emoji. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sarsgaard is rumoured to have landed the part of Harvey Dent, the idealistic District Attorney of Gotham who later becomes the villain, Two-Face, who wreaks havoc in the Gotham city. Prior to this, the character of Harvey Dent was previously played by Aaron Eckhart in Christopher Nolan's ''The Dark Knight' (2008), by Tommy Lee Jones in Joel Schumacher's 'Batman Forever' (1995) and by Nicholas D'Agosto in Fox's TV series 'Gotham'. Meanwhile, Reeves' 'The Batman' will be front-run by Twilight star Robert Pattinson. The casting of Robert as the Caped Crusader has garnered mixed reviews. Apart from Robert Pattinson, 'The Batman' will also feature Andy Serkis as his loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.

Among the villains, we will see Zoe Kravitz essaying the role of Catwoman, Paul Dano joining the film as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, and John Turturro has joined the gang and he will portray crime boss Carmine Falcone. The film is being touted to be a grounded take on the Dark Knight. The only upgrade is that it will feature many of Batman's villains.

Reeves has penned the script, as well. Matt Reeves will not only direct and write but will also produce it with Dylan Clark. The Batman is scheduled for a June 25, 2021 release. For more scoops and updates, watch out for this space.
