Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior: Ajay Devgn starrer to also get a Marathi release
Ajay Devgn starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is grabbing headlines every other day now. The historical war drama which narrates the life of Maharashtra's soldier, Tanaji Malusare boasts of an ensemble cast and strong storyline. Braveheart Tanaji Malusare has been one of the most celebrated soldiers from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's army. Hence, the expectations are high on the Om Raut's directorial, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The director recently revealed that it was Ajay Devgn's idea to take the film to the rural areas as well.
Meaning, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior will now release in Marathi as well. However, in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Raut revealed that he had pitched the story in Hindi. "I had pitched it as a Hindi film because the idea was to go global. But Mr Devgn felt the need to come out with a Marathi version as well to ensure that it reaches the interiors of the state," the director told the daily.
Ajay Devgn who plays Tanaji in the film feels proud to be associated with such an amazing story. About the Marathi release, Ajay told Mirror, "It's my privilege to be able to share the story of this brave warrior in his mother tongue, as well as in Hindi. I want Maharashtra to take part in his journey as much as the rest of India."
Kajol who plays Savitri Bai Malusare, wife to Ajay's Tanaji, was ecstatic when she came aboard for the film. About the experience, Kajol said, "Having grown up around my great grandmother (Ratanbai Shilotri) and grandmother (Shobhna Samarth), it was almost like reliving a part of my own history. It felt like I had dressed up in my mother's clothes and played her in a grown-up way," She went on to add that she immediately connected with the character and her braveness and grace in the face of adversity.
Om also revealed that the Marathi trailer of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior will be launched on 10 December 2019. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior releases on 10th January 2019 and will clash with Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak.
