Gangubai Kathiawadi First Look! Alia Bhatt looks every bit convincing in a de-glam avatar for the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial

As promised by the makers, the first look of Alia Bhatt as Gangubai Kathiawadi is out and the actress looks convincing. Before Alia, we were under the impression that Priyanka Chopra Jonas would pull off this real character well but the Raazi actress has proved us completely wrong. Yesterday, Alia had herself shared the first logo of Gangubai Kathiawadi and tweeted, "Gangubai First look out tomorrow @bhansali_produc #SanjayLeelaBhansali @prerna982 @jayantilalgada @PenMovies https://t.co/hP1ZV84khj."

Talking about Alia doing this character, a source close to the production team had earlier informed Mid-Day, "Bhansali had committed to working with Alia and is not one to go back on his word. Owing to his creative fallout with Salman Khan and Inshallah being subsequently shelved, Alia ended up getting the raw deal. So, Sanjay is now discussing a film revolving around a brothel owner of Kamathipura, Gangubai. The film will be an adaptation of a chapter from S Husain Zaidi's Mafia Queens Of Mumbai. Currently, the discussion is in the nascent stage."

As far as Gangubai Kothewali is concerned, she used to run a brothel in Kamathipura (Mumbai) and was a powerful woman in the 60s. She was also famous for being a drug peddler and she used to order for murders as well. It will be interesting to see how Alia will pull off this role. But, going by her first look, we are assuming she would do complete justice to the character.

Apart from Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia Bhatt has Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra in her kitty. She will be seen alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Dimple Kapadia, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna in the film, which is slated to release in Summer 2020. Also, Alia has Karan Johar's magnum opus Takht lined up.
