Kapil Dev gets candid on whether his daughter Amiya wants a career in showbiz – EXCLUSIVE
Kapil Dev recently celebrated his birthday on January 6. This year, we will get to relive the glory of Kapil Dev and his squad that brought home the 1983 World Cup against all odds with the film '83. Ranveer Singh plays the role of Kapil Dev in the film. He spent considerable time with the cricketer to get into the skin of the character. This was not all. Kapil Dev's daughter Amiya was one of the assistant directors in the project. We asked him if she was interested in a career in showbiz as we are seeing children from personalities from different fields entering Bollywood of late.
He told BollywoodLife in an EXCLUSIVE chat, "See, I don't know. She wanted to do something on a project basis and that's how she got on board. Kabir Khan was like she can work on the film. As of now, she has not spoken about her desire to be a filmmaker or join Bollywood. She is studying right now. Once she completes her studies, she might take a decision. That's when we will come to know what she wants." Dad and daughter share a fabulous bond. Kapil Dev had thanked daughter Amiya for his Instagram debut.
The film has an ensemble cast of Tahir Raj Bhasin, Chirag Patil, Ammy Virk, Sahil Khattar, Hardy Sandhu and others. The role of Sandeep Patil will be played by his son, Chirag Patil. Talking about Amiya, Chirag told a daily, "We met for the first time while working on the film. She's from Delhi, I'm from Mumbai and she's way younger than me. She's part of our daily training sessions since she is on the direction team. So, she keeps us updated on any meetings we are supposed to attend. Whenever I'm in Kabir's [Khan, the director] office, she's there and is very involved in the process, be it planning the costumes or the schedule."
