And just like with the other film industries across the globe, the ones down South, too, grabbed plenty of headlines for their developments. From film releases featuring big names like Mammootty, Ravi Teja and Udhayaniy Stalin to Darbar and Sarileru Neekevvaru entering the 200-crore club to Vijay Deverakonda and Rajinikanth's new films announced with a bang here are the newsmakers who made the biggest noise down South this past week.

1.) A trio of new releases

Big names like Mammootty, Ravi Teja and Udhayanidhi Stalin arrived in theatres with their films, Shylock, Disco Raja and Psycho, and much to the delight of their fans, all three films have been well received by both critics and the audience at large.

2.) New entrants in the 200-crore club

Both Rajinikanth's Darbar and Mahesh Babu's Sarileru Nekkevvaru grossed over 200 crore at the global box-office, making it the fifth such instance for Thalaivar after Kabali, Enthiran, 2.0 and Petta, and Prince's first entry into the coveted 200-crore club.
