Atrangi Re: Akshay Kumar is not doing a cameo but a very special character, reveals Aanand L Rai
Raanjhanaa and Tanu Weds Manu franchise maker Aanand L Rai recently announced his upcoming project Atrangi Re featuring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush in key roles. The announcement picture went viral in no time, though there were speculations that Khiladi Kumar is doing a cameo in the film. Director ALR has denied this news as he told Mumbai Mirror, that it is a very special character, which is important for the narrative. "It's not a cameo, but a very special character that is important to the narrative," said the Zero director
When asked to him that whether casting three stars together was a difficult task for him he replied, he replied, "I don't see casting as a task you need to pull off. I look for partners who are as emotionally charged as me on the journey. I was fortunate to get these three on board" Aanand also revealed that Akshay Kumar gave his nod in just 10 minutes of the narration as he is co-producing the film along with the director and Bhushan Kumar.
When the director asked whether it's a love triangle like his previous film Zero, he said that films can't be slotted in one gene."The title means 'funnily weird'. So, I needed a cast that'd raise questions. All my characters are 'funnily weird' and it's their emotional journey", he said, The film will be shot in Madhurai and Bihar and will have mixed cultures from the country. "It's a great mix of two Indian cultures. We start shooting in a town in Bihar and move to Madurai after that. Now you know which cultures I'm talking about," asserted ALR. The film is set to hit the screens on February 14, 2021 during the Valentine's Day weekend.
