Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan box office day 2 early estimates: Ayushmann Khurrana's film remains rock steady

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao is performing well at the box office. It was off to a flying start with a collection of Rs. 9.55 crore. Trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, had shared the official box office numbers of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and tweeted, "#ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan fares very well on Day 1... #Delhi-#NCR, #Punjab perform best... #Mumbai picks up... Brand #AyushmannKhurrana + #MahaShivratri partial holiday contribute... Important to score on Day 2 and 3... Fri 9.55 cr. #India biz. #SMZS." And now if the early estimates are to be believed, the film has earned approximately Rs. 10.90 crore to Rs. 12 crore. This means, the film is having a strong hold at the ticket windows.

Our critic gave 2.5 stars to Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and wrote, "Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is refreshingly funny and lighthearted in tackling a pertinent topic, till it stops being so and almost succumbs to the same trivializing of the topic it attempts to refrain from. Nevertheless, the message is beautiful, most of the performances are good and it's a victory in itself that homosexuality has been ushered into mainstream Bollywood, without neither farce nor preachiness, just as it should be, which will probably pave the way for better such endeavours in future. I'm going with 2.5 out of 5 stars."

On being asked about being homophobic, Ayushmann told us, "I was probably borderline homophobic. But I saw the transition in my thought process over the years when I came to Delhi and Bombay, and met people from the community. I became more sensitised. Then I realised that was such a fool back in the day. I thought that the transition I went through, any average Indian homophobe can go through as well. If we manage to do that in our film, it will be a huge victory."
